Bonjour my little demon,
Welcome to the edition #69 of The Art Missive. We are now 12,222 😈 in this newsletter! Whether you've been here from the start or just arrived, thank you so much for reading ❤.
New era
It's Wednesday, and I've been deep in preparing for the upcoming print drop. Then, in the midst of work, I get this DM:
It was the thirtieth little demon asking the same thing since I switched to oil painting.
I knew I couldn’t delay it any longer.
Two days later, I changed my profile picture. But I did it with a heavy heart, because that photo meant everything to me.
Let me explain:
Imagine January 2021. Little Léa, drawing on the floor of her room, unknown to the world, with no one to believe in her. Picture this young girl, alone, with everything yet to accomplish, choosing this profile picture on Instagram. A portrait of a strong, determined woman— Her, like a silent promise, a vow to herself to one day fulfill her dream.
Now, imagine 2022. A few sketches later, her work goes viral: Little Léa is suddenly overwhelmed by tens of thousands of new followers. But those new faces are welcomed by that same profile picture—welcomed by Her, who opens the doors to Léa's world, a world filled with strong women, superpowers, demon horns, and pointy ears.
Now it's 2023. Her has now become the emblem of the Demon Tribe. More than 200,000 art lovers bound together by shared values: strength, magic, and embracing difference.
As 2023 comes to a close, Little Léa is struggling. She pours her heart into creating her first drawing course. Doubts creep in, the urge to give up looms, and the weight of imposter syndrome presses down... But Her remains, unshaken and confident, as if she knew that just a few weeks later, this project would be a huge success, with hundreds of students joining.
Finally, imagine 2024. Little Léa has grown up. It's time for her to put down her pencils and embrace oil painting. It’s scary... stepping into the unknown: what if my tribe turns away? But thankfully, Her stands tall—like an anchor in a shifting sea, like a lantern in a world dark with uncertainty.
And also, like a relic from the past, the ghost of Little Léa softly whispering, 'Remember where we came from; you can be proud now.'
So, it may not be the most beautiful portrait, but to me, it’s the most precious.
The struggles, the doubts, the successes...
My connection with you.
It feels like I owe everything to Her.
If today I understand that it’s time to say goodbye... I won’t do it without honoring her one last time.
That’s why I’ve made a decision:
You know, in the coming days, I’ll be launching the Demon Tribe’s first print drop.
This print drop will be themed around ‘A New Era’. To celebrate the 4 years we're about to leave behind, I plan to offer this little portrait of Her to all the demons who participate in the pre-orders.
I find it beautiful to offer you the lantern that lit up my moments of doubt, with the hope that it will do for you what it did for me.
Voilà… This is probably the most emotional message I’ve ever written. For someone who rarely cries, I found myself shedding a few tears over this.
Now it’s time to look to the future: let’s meet on Wednesday evening 6pm CEST time (the day after tomorrow) for our first limited print drop ✨.
This event will be your only chance to get ‘The Color of Vengeance’ and ‘Feeling Blue’ as I won’t reprint them and it will be very short, so don’t be late!
See you on Wednesday, in your inbox.
